I completed my Doctorate in Synthetic Organic Chemistry on 01-11-2010. My dissertation work was Synthesis, characterization and biological activity screenings of oxygen, nitrogen and sulphur heterocycles and their importance in medicine and agriculture sectors. I have expertise in multi-step organic synthesis, preparation of molecules of medicinal importance.
In my dissertation, an attempt has been made to synthesize and characterize some reactive methylene compounds and certain classes of non heterocyclic and heterocyclic systems with possible chemotherapeutic values. Reactive methylene compounds have been found to be useful as synthons for number of bioactive agents. Since very little work had previously been done in this area (reactive methylene compounds as synthons), my dissertation research investigated, in detail, using such type of compounds as starting material quiet a large number of heterocyclic and non-heterocyclic compounds can be prepared by condensing/reacting them with other substances of suitable functionalities.. The heterocyclic systems selected were those found in Phenothiazines, Pyrazolones, Pyrazoles, Thiadiazoles, Coumarins, Flavanones, Flavonols, Flavones and Aurones and their synthons were malonamic acid hydrazides, thiosemicarbazides, malonamic acids and chalcones. The non heterocyclic compounds like hydrazones, semicarbazones, thiosemicarbazides and schiffs bases were also synthesised during the course of the study.
I have experience in virtual screening and molecular docking of various synthetic molecules. My nature of work includes method standardization, method validation, purity profiling and stability studies of different drug candidates, isolation and characterization of different bioactive marker compounds using HPLC, HP-TLC and PREP-HPLC.
I have been associated with instruments like HPLC, Prep-HPLC, UV, IR, AAS, Flame Photometer, DSC, TGA, Zeta-sizer, pH meter, conductometer, ISE (Ion Selective Electrode) from last 7 years.
