I am very grateful to the BDG Lifesciences for organizing a workshop on Exome sequencing analysis, and introducing me to Dr. Bharati Mittal who was the resource person for the workshop. I am especially thankful to Dr. Bharati Mittal for sharing her extensive knowledge on such an exclusive and classified topic. It was in every bit a hand-on workshop especially for a biologist like me who wanted to venture into computational bioinformatics to conduct the NGS analysis of patient samples with little knowledge of Linux based operating systems. Dr. Bharati literally filled the gap between the lab to the patient, with her excellent teaching skills whereby she eloquently explained the biology and principle of Exome sequencing and then taught the commands that began with the fastqc file and all the way to the final annotated vcf file generation. I was allowed to use my own data for the entire analysis, which we compared to the final report. She explained the attributes of the ACMG-AMP guidelines with amazing simplicity. Despite a virtual platform, it was an exciting experience to work remotely using a lab-based server during off-hours from home, under her patient guidance. I highly recommend this workshop to all those working in basic science and computational biology backgrounds.

Well-managed program. The speaker allowed the participant to give the ideas and discussed the things that could not be solved on time. Suggestion: The speaker should tell us the steps with the theoretical facts, so that the participants will understand it better without just remembering the command and algorithm. Besides, the instructor also need to prepare the precautions if the technical problems happen during the program for example: to fix the software and hardware problem, how and how. I came to this course due to I realized prediction is needed for my research work due to I will need to screen ligand competitors to be an adjunct-therapy for infectious diseases. After when through so much procedure to obtained such information for test ligand, I think it is now possible for me to do it in my place. Unfortunately, this course only mentioned about known chemical structure, I will need to find another way on how to find my nucleotide sequence structure and docking the nucleotide to the protein of interest.
